Prior to joining GrowNYC, Marcel was the Legislative Director for the New York City Council where he ensured the passage of over 30 environmental local laws. Marcel has led the way to make GrowNYC the national model for urban sustainability organizations, creating innovative programs like Youthmarket farm stands, Greenmarket Co’s Food Hub, Food Stamp in the Farmers Markets, and Grow to Learn NYC, the Citywide School Gardens Initiative.

David Hurd
Recycling, Waste Reduction, and Composting

With 32 years of experience, David is a nationally recognized expert in recycling program and market development, and community-based recycling enterprise initiatives. As Associate Director of Bronx 2000, David managed the operations of several recycling businesses, and sold millions of pounds of recycled materials in national and international markets.

Gerard Lordahl
Open Space Greening, Gardening, Rooftop Gardens, and Horticulture

With over 30 years of experience in urban and community gardening, Gerard currently leads a dedicated team of city-wide environmental professionals who design, maintain and coordinate services for hundreds of community, school, and roof-top garden projects each year.
